CONCORD, N.C. (May 24, 2007) – Woodhouse Performance finished fifth and sixth in Round Four of SPEED World Challenge GT series competition at Lowe’s Motor Speedway Thursday night. Jeff Courtney, in the No. 99 Kenda Tires/Pro MPI Dodge Viper posted his first career top-five finish in GT competition while teammate Kasey Kahne finished sixth behind the wheel of the No. 9 Evernham Performance Parts/Woodhouse Performance Dodge Viper in his SPEED World Challenge career debut.
Kahne qualified the No. 9 Evernahm Performance Parts/Woodhouse Performance Dodge Viper in the ninth position with a time of 49.835 seconds, after picking up over two seconds after the morning practice sessions. When the green flag waved, Kahne got an excellent start, gaining three positions as the SPEED GT field went into the frontstretch chicane. He gained two more positions on the second lap of the race, climbing his way up to the fourth position. Kahne reached as high as third during the 45-lap, two segment event, and finished the race in the sixth position after being slowed when he ran out of real estate going into the backstretch chicane on lap 24.
Courtney qualified the No. 99 Kenda Tires/Pro MPI Dodge Viper in the 11th position, with a time of 50.204 seconds, posting his best starting position of the year. He made multiple impressive passes throughout the race, coming all the way back from 16th after a mishap on the start to finish fifth. With the finish, Courtney breaks into the top-10 in the season championship points standings, 19 points ahead of 11th place James Sofronas.
Round Four of SPEED World Challenge GT Series competition at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway airs at 3pm Saturday June 2 on SPEED Channel.
Woodhouse Performance and the SPEED World Challenge Series heads to Waktins Glen, N.Y., June 10 to compete in Round five of SPEED World Challenge GT Series Competition at the Watkins Glen International Raceway.
